Eight Bucs advance to Section 2A Track and Field Meet

Eight WEM girls track and field athletes have advanced to compete in the Section 2A Track and Field Meet Saturday, June 3 at Mankato West High School.

Juniors Ella Duenes and Josie Volkmann, sophomores Ashlyn Pelant, Jaiden Williams, Tatum Richards, Loryn Caldwell, and McKenna Schuster, and freshman Addison Condon advanced after placing in the top eight in individual events or top four in relay events at the North Sub-Section meet Thursday, May 25 at Sibley East.

Condon and Volkmann will compete in three events and Williams and Pelant will compete in two. The others advanced in one event.

Pelant won two Sub-Section Championships, winning the discus with a toss of 98-feet, 7-inches and the shot put with a toss of 35- feet, 1/2-inch.

Condon placed second in the long jump (17-feet 1 1/2-inches), fourth in the 100-meter dash (13.34), and anchored the 4 x 100-meter relay team which placed fourth (53.51). Joining Condon on this relay were Duenes, Williams, and Schuster.

Volkmann placed fifth in the 800-meter run (2:35.05), fifth in the triple jump (30- feet, 1-inch), and fourth in the pole vault (7-feet).

Williams placed eighth in the high jump (4-feet, 6-inches).

Richards placed third in the pole vault (7-feet, 3-inches).

Caldwell placed sixth in the triple jump (30-feet, 1/2- inch).

WEM placed fourth in the 11-team meet with 60.5 points.
