Elysian Council doesn’t change street parking

A resolution regulating street parking in a residential area in the City of Elysian was discussed during the monthly November 8 meeting of the Elysian City Council.

The area in question is along SW Maple and SW Third Street. which is very narrow in size.

The council was looking at the resolution that states no person shall park a vehicle or trailer longer than 24 hours on either side of SW Maple Ave and SW Third Street.

It was decided to leave the street as is and not regulate the parking in this area and revise it in the spring.

In other Elysian City Council business:

• A variance request by Josh and Molly Froman of 710 Lakeside Drive NW to build an 1,800 square foot shed was approved.

• A request by the Elysian Fire Department Relief Association for December 4 gambling license was approved.

• The city will advertise for bids for a land lease on a small plot of land for the crop years of 2022, 2023, and 2024.

• City hall will be closed November 28, the day after Thanksgiving.

• The annual Truth-in-Taxation Meeting will be held December 13 at 6:10 p.m.

• A thank you was acknowledged to all volunteers, businesses, and Elysian Area Chamber members, Elysian Fire Department, and city staff who contributed to the 2021 Spook Trail.

• A meeting will be scheduled with the WEM School Board to discuss the city’s acquisition of the school baseball field and tennis courts.
