Princess Kay of the Milky Way receives key to the city

Minnesota State Fair’s 2022 Princess Kay of the Milky Way and 2020 Kolacky Queen Rachel Rynda received the key to the city and a proclamation honoring her contributions as an exemplary ambassador to the Montgomery area at the Jan. 17 city council meeting.

Rynda was first contacted before Thanksgiving about the honor. City Clerk Patti Soukup called her and, after some small talk, said, “We would like to give you the key to the city.” Rynda was surprised, “I didn’t really expect that but it was pretty cool.”

After receiving the honor she said, “I already have it up in my room. I am very honored to receive the key to the city and the proclamation with my name on it. It’s amazing. I have grown up in Montgomery my whole life, and to be honored for what I have done for the community so far is great.”

Between attending the University of WisconsinRiver Falls (UWRF) fulltime and going to events she is asked to be at as Princess Kay, she still finds time to visit family, help out at her...
