Six Tri-City United High School female weightlifters placed at the state competition. Halee Gargett claimed the title as the state champion in the 45 kg class.

The state weightlifting competition was held Saturday, March 11, in Cannon Falls. Coach Andrew Meier said, “Great way to end the year! All of the girls set personal records in at least one of their lifts. Ana Stasney improved her total by 6 kg! Halee becomes the schools 5th State Champion. She lifted very well.”

“Caleigh Hoefs and Julia Odenthal battled with each other a little for second and third place, which was fun to see. Elizabeth Odenthal and Morgan Meier both just missed their last clean and jerks that would have moved them up in the final rankings. They both really battled and pushed the other girls in their weight classes,” said Coach Meier.

A total of 33 student athletes competed this year, the most that has ever competed in weightlifting for Tri-City United. Coach Meier said, “We had 74 total lifters this season, which is also the most we have ever had. I think the future looks good for TCU weightlifting, and can't wait to see what next year brings!”

Congratulations on your achievements weightlifters!
