SnoBowl to be played New Year’s Day

The 62nd SnoBowl, the longest running alumni snow football game in the world, will be played on New Year’s Day, Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022 at 12 noon in New Prague’s Memorial Park. The game, played between the Ptarmigans and Polars, with teams made up of New Prague High School alumni, will see who can come away with the win this year.

There will be a pregame gathering at Fishtale Grill starting at 9 a.m. The two teams will then grapple through snow or slush or hard frozen ground to see who can improve their records. The Polars lead the series with 32 wins while the Ptarmigans have 18 wins and 11 games have ended in ties. After the game an award ceremony and meal will be held at 1319 Woodfire Tavern on Main Street.

Owners of the Polars are Zack Dubanoski, Zack Shetka and Ryan Haugen. Owners of the Ptarmigans are Ben Buthe, Alex Eide and Tony Beranek. The six owners have been in charge of their respective teams since 2020.

All are welcome to come watch the game for free and any New Prague alumni...
