One of the biggest events for Titan high school students will still be held, according to TCU High School principal, Alan Fitterer.
Fitterer told sophomores, juniors and seniors over the weekend that Prom and the Post Prom event has been changed to July 18 and 19. It had been scheduled for Saturday, April 25 but was changed due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The Grand March will be held in the high school gym. Prom, dinner and dance will be held at the Science Museum of MN, followed by Post Prom at The Dakotah! Sport and Fitness Center in Prior Lake.
The rough agenda for the July 18 evening and early morning of July 19 is as follows:
4 p.m. - Grand March in the TCU HS gym
5 p.m. - Leave for the dinner, activities, & dance at the Science Museum in St. Paul. Prom goers will have access to exhibits and activities with their wristband.
11 p.m. - Board buses for Post-Prom at The Dakotah!
4:30 a.m. - Buses arrive at TCU HS
Juniors and seniors who are not planning to take part in Prom Grand March and the dinner/dance, but want to attend Post-Prom, there will be a Palmer Bus Service bus leaving the high school that night to take those Titans up to The Dakotah for Post Prom.
However, Fitterer cautioned that the events will only be held if the restrictions are lifted by the governor.
“Granted as we all know at this point, the above events and activities can only take place if the social distancing and ‘shelter-at-home’ Governor Executive Orders have been relaxed/lifted. Time will tell if that occurs. This is why we have postponed our Titan Prom to mid-summer with truly the hope that we are in a very different spot concerning the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic,” he said. “If our Prom/Post-Prom cannot happen on July 18-19, then this TCU HS event will not occur. Let's all hope that it does not come to that.”
