Memorial Day ceremonies

Elysian
Elysian American Legion Post 311, Auxiliary, and SAL Squadron will be performing Memorial Day services with military honors on Monday, May 31, at the following times and locations: 7 a.m. Greenland Cemetery, 7:20 a.m. German Lake Cemetery, 7:55 a.m. St. Peter (Bell) Cemetery, 8:10 a.m. Cannonville Cemetery, 9 a.m. Waterville Memorial, and 10:15 a.m. Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Kilkenny
The Kilkenny American Legion John Balfe Unit 380, along with the support of the Auxiliary, will hold Memorial Day services on Monday, May 31 at the following times and locations: Sabre Lake Cemetery at 9 a.m., Trebon Cemetery at 10 a.m., and Calvary Cemetery at 11 a.m. Thank you for coming out to honor our veterans.
Morristown
All servicemen, Legion members, Auxiliary members, SAL members, Juniors, and school children are encouraged to join the Color Guard in their annual march from the Morristown American Legion Post to Riverside Cemetery at 10:45 a.m. on Memorial Day, Monday, May 31. Parade line-up starts at 10:30 a.m. A program will be held at the cemetery at 11 a.m. Post #149 Commander Dennis Schmidtke will be the master of ceremonies. Melissa Schulz will sing the Star Spangled Banner. The invocation will be given by Rev. Juan Palm of Trinity Lutheran Church, North Morristown. Ben Meschke will give the Gettysburg Address. Palmer Huff of Faribault, who spent two full tours of duty in the Air Force, will be the guest speaker at the event. Legion members and Auxiliary members who passed away in the past year, will be recognized.
Waterville
Waterville’s 2021 Memorial Day Ceremony will be held at the Veterans’ Memorial in Lions Park on the corner of East Hoosac and South Third Streets, on Monday, May 31, starting at 8:30 a.m. As part of the ceremony, Pastor Paul Marzahn of Crossroads Church in Lakeville will give an invocation. A poem will be read by Waterville- Elysian-Morristown eighth grader Madeline Heuss. Music will be provided by Emily Kratzer, and a representative from the Mankato Recruiter’s Office in the River Hills Mall will lead the Wreath Ceremony. The 2021 Memorial Day remembrance wreath ceremony will bring special recognition and honor for the veterans who passed away between Memorial Day 2020 and Memorial Day 2021, including: Roger William Kewatt - Marine Corps Private 1st Class, Gordon Harvey Kritzer - Navy BM3, Lowell Charles Quiram - Army Sgt., John Gordon Hendrickson - Army PFC, and Jack Webster - Navy PH2. The ceremony will end (approximately 9 a.m.) with the Elysian American Legion Post 311 Color Guard posting colors and presenting a 21- gun salute.
