Three young women will compete in the 33rd annual Miss Czech Slovak Minnesota Pageant on Saturday, April 9, at the Montgomery American Legion Club.
The candidates are: Sarah Holicky of Montgomery, Hailie Wentworth of St. Peter, and Marisa Winget of Northfield.
The candidates will compete in categories of talent, ethnic folk dress, on-stage interview, poise and appearance, as well as private interviews. The candidates must be of Czech, Slovak or Moravian descent.
Holicky is a graduate of Tri-City United High School and St. Scholastica College. She would like to become a nurse practitioner specializing in critical care. For her talent, the daughter of Mike and Barb Holicky, will do a performance called, “Learn Czech with Sarah.”
Wentworth is a senior at Rock Bend Alternative Learning Center. She also wants to get her nursing degree and work in a hospital. The daughter of Ryan and Tasha Timmerman of St. Peter, will perform a Czech dance.
Winget is attending Northfield High School. Her future plans are to attend the University of Wisconsin - River Falls and major in sociology, and minor in biology. She would like to then join the U.S. Navy to be part of the military police program.
For her talent, the daughter of Dane and Sarah Winget, will perform a violin solo.
The woman crowned queen will represent Minnesota at the Miss Czech Slovak US Pageant held in early August in Wilber, NE.
The reigning Miss Czech Slovak MN Queen is Mary Carson, daughter of John and Rosalind Carson of Lonsdale.
