Dundas road rage death defendant given deal for pleading guilty to second-degree murder

Larry Myers, a 79-year-old Vietnam veteran, died after receiving a severe beating from a road rage incident with Leslie Shawn Sanders in June 2022. Myers suffered facial fractures and a significant brain injury in the ordeal, was placed on life support and passed away nine days after the incident.
“What it comes down to is the defendant had ample opportunity to walk away and de-escalate the situation, but he didn’t. The second he parked he truck and went after Dad, it became a deliberate and intentional act,” said Jennifer Myers Murphy, the first family member to speak to the court during Sanders’ Oct. 5 sentencing.
Sanders, 53 was initially charged with first-degree assault following the June 27, 2022, incident which took place near the intersection of Hester Street and Schilling Drive in Dundas. The charges were amended to include murder following Myers’ death.
