Dairy team and an original song take first place at State FFA Convention

Late in the month of April, many students from Tri-City United Schools Future Farmers of America (FFA) team headed to the State FFA Convention, April 23-25. Some of those students placed very well among their competitors around the state, including two taking home first place awards.

Samantha Tiede, Class of 2023, took home first place for an original song she wrote and performed in the talent category. She was able to play and sing the song she wrote in front of the entire group at Williams Arena, which was also broadcast on the arenas large led billboard.

The dairy evaluation of Caleigh Hoefs, Alexis Hoefs, Jacy Saemrow and Brendan Germscheid took home a first place award out of 62 other teams in that category. Caliegh Hoefs placed sixth out of 226 individuals in that category.

There were a couple of other notable individual placements and one team placement that occurred in addition to Hoefs. Dlyan Fink placed eighth out of 214 for fish and wildlife, and Olivia Sawatzky placed eighth out of 215 individuals in the small animal/vet science category. Sawatzky was a part of the fifth place finishing team in that category that also consisted of Lyllian Caponi, Brianna Schroeder and Tayla Kline. The team went up against 57 other teams.

Members that received the FFA State Degree were Cole Franek, Alexis Hoefs, Jacy Saemrow and Samantha Tiede.
