Beverly Jane (Bev) Pedersen

Beverly Jane (Bev) Pedersen passed away peacefully with her children at her side on November 22, 2023. She resided at Mala Strana Nursing Home for the past five and a half years, where she made many wonderful friends with the caring staff and residents. She was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota on June 24, 1927, to William Joseph and Ethel Jane LeClair and was the oldest of three children with a younger brother and sister. She graduated in Grand Forks from the Academy of St. James in 1945 and married Cyril Ashton (Cy) Pedersen in Grand Forks on September 15, 1948.

They lived in several different communities across the Iron Range of Minnesota and also spent seven years abroad in Brazil while her husband Cy worked for the Hanna Mining Company. After Cy retired from Hanna, Bev and Cy moved to Craig, Colorado where Cy worked for the Colowyo Coal Company. In 1989 Bev and Cy retired to Swan Lake in Pengilly, Minnesota, where she lived until 2003. She then moved to New Prague making her home there for the past twenty years in close proximity to her daughters. Bev was a homemaker, raising nine children. Her interests revolved around her children and she volunteered with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and became a Girl Scout troop leader for the Brownies. Bev was devoted to her Catholic church community working with the church circle and preforming her duties as a Eucharistic Minister. She belonged to several different book clubs and was an avid reader until her death. Most importantly, Bev was involved with her local food shelves and served as the President of the food shelf in Craig, Colorado. 

 Bev was preceded in death by her husband, Cy in 2000; her parents; her brother, sister and their spouses Robert (Agnes) LeClair and Yvonne (Donald) Phelps; her son Thomas Pedersen; and her son-in-law Paul Blichfeldt.

 She is survived by her children Carol (Al) Anderson, Jerry (Jane) Pedersen, Mary Blichfeldt, Janet (Dennis) Harty, Jean Giles, Paula (Kevin) Jelen, Teresa (Doug) Andrys, Becky Schaecher, and daughter-in-law Virlaine (Tom Barth) Pedersen, 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

 Prayer services will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Bruzek Funeral Home with Reverend Diane Goulson officiating. Visitation will take place 1 hour prior to service.  Lunch will follow at the Legion Clubroom.  Interment will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing, Minnesota at a later date.

 Memorials are preferred and can be sent to your favorite charity or Beverly’s favorite charity, the Peace Center in New Prague.
