Karleen M. Burgeson, 70

Karleen M. Burgeson, age 70, of New Prague, died peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, November 27, 2023, at her home.  Karleen was born on November 1, 1953, in Bellingham, Washington to Leo and Jeraldine (Barber) Dally.  Kaleen grew up in various communities in the northern Washington area and graduated from Mount Lake Terrace High School.  She joined a sister living in Minnesota, where she started out as a waitress at the Nanking Restaurant in Minneapolis.  She met Jerold D. Burgeson at a Bible Study in Apple Valley,  quickly fell in love and were married in Mt. Vernon, Washington on July 15, 1978.  Though Karleen would probably say her favorite job was teaching aerobics, her primary job was driving school bus for Koch School Bus Service, primarily in Shakopee for over 20 years until her health started failing.   She was generous with whatever she had and was always willing to help wherever needed.  One of her favorite activities was organizing church events, particularly the Tour of Bethlehem for Friendship Church in Prior Lake.  Her faith was an important part of her life and she was a joyful member of the church worship group.

She discovered a love for motorcycles and after buying her own Harley, she and Jerry enjoyed weekend rides and a special 5-state ride with another couple.  Her favorite rides were the ones done for benefits, such as the Muscular Dystrophy Association.  Karleen had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh.  She could spot a deal from a mile away!  Her joyous spirit, her laughter, and her beautiful smile will be sorely missed by her family and all who knew her.

Karleen is survived by her husband, Jerry of New Prague; children, Michael (Glenda) Burgeson of Elko New Market, Carrie (Jeff) Romig of Webster, Kris Morphew (Dean Duban) of Lonsdale, Jillayne (Brandon) Collins of Colorado Springs, CO, Justin Burgeson of Montgomery; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Leona (Don) Rehm of Columbia, SC & Alicia (Harold) Dick of Ocean Shores, WA.  She is preceded in death by her parents.

Services will be held in late spring or early summer.
