The New Prague Trojan girls hockey team is still looking for its first win after dropping a pair of contests last week. The Trojans were defeated Tuesday, Nov. 19, by Chaska/Chanhassen, 5-1 and Thursday, Nov. 21, by Eden Prairie, 8-0. New Prague will play at the Dakotah Ice Arena Friday, Nov. 29, against Chaska/Chanhassen, Prior Lake, and St. Francis/North Branch. Tuesday, Dec. 3, the Trojans will host Mounds-Westonka. Three Minnesota based painting companies and Titan, distributor of spray painting equipment, came together earlier this year to raise funds for the New Prague Veterans Memorial. Nick Slavik Painting & Restoration, Mr. Moles Painting and Headwaters Painting did a project between New Prague and Prior Lake, where they raised money for the Veterans Memorial project that will be built along the city’s Main Street in 2020.

We’ve reached another Thanksgiving and I think for many of us there are always some memories of past Thanksgivings. There are likely two areas where those memories fall into — family and food.

A pre-Thanksgiving holiday storm hit the area with several inches of heavy, wet snow by Wednesday morning, Nov. 27.
The arrival of the white stuff came from a system that brought snow falling hard and fast across southern Minnesota. According to weather.gov, snow totals in the Twin Cities metro area early Wednesday morning included 8.7 inches in Prior Lake, 11 inches in spots of New Prague, and 7 inches in Montgomery.
On Tuesday, area schools cancelled classes in anticipation of the snow’s arrival.

Due to weather concerns, New Prague Area Schools will be closed on Wednesday, November 27, 2019. This is the first weather closure of the year and is built into the calendar as a “traditional” weather closure for all students. This will NOT be a blended learning day.
WRAP and Kids’ Company will also be closed on Wednesday.

John B. Hiscox, 65, died on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019 at 4 p.m. at Abbott Northwestern Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019 at Northfield Moravian Church (Main Street), 317 Division Street South, Northfield. The service will start at 1 p.m. and be officiated by Pastor Barry Lehman.
Interment will be held at Elkhorn Cemetery, Milledgeville, IL at a later date.

Mary Jane Vosejpka (Novak) age 83 of Lonsdale, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on November 25, 2019. 
Mary Jane Novak was born on October 24, 1936 in Veseli, MN to “Laddy” and Anna Novak. She attended Most Holy Trinity School in Veseli.
Mary Jane married Francis “Fritz” Vosejpka on May 12, 1956 in Veseli. After their marriage they moved to the Vosejpka family farm where they farmed for 25 years. While farming they started Vosejpka Meats and ran their business for 22 years until their retirement in 2001.

A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for portions of southwest, south central, and east central Minnesota, and all of west central Wisconsin starting late Tuesday afternoon, and continuing through Wednesday morning. The warning includes areas along the Buffalo Ridge in west central Minnesota, and areas southeast of a line from Redwood Falls, to Hutchinson, Clearwater, Princeton and Rush City in Minnesota. Snowfall totals of 6 or more inches are likely in the warned area, with locally higher amounts possible.

Mary M. Bisek, age 87, of Belle Plaine, died peacefully with her family at her side on Saturday, November 23, 2019.  Mary was born in Lake Mills, Iowa to Edward and Esther (Cation) Syndergaard.  She moved to New Prague with her family and graduated from New Prague High School as the senior class president and class valedictorian.  She married Clarence J. Bisek on February 14, 1953 at Ft.

Adeline A. Kohout, age 93, of New Prague died peacefully, with her family at her side on Friday, November 22, 2019 at Mala Strana Care and Rehabilitation Center.  Adeline was born on January 16, 1926 in New Prague to John C. and Mary (Weiers) Solheid.  She attended country school at Union Hill.  Adeline married the love of her life, William E.

This fall Holy Cross Catholic School middle schoolers drew the month away creating their visions of what peace means. The students were competing in the International Lions Peace Poster contest sponsored locally by the Veseli Lions Club. This year’s theme was “Journey to Peace.” This is the first year all the winners were from the seventh grade. Charlotte Benolkin was awarded first place, Lucy Havlicek earned second place honors, and third place was awarded to Jocelyn Simones. The three were awarded cash prizes from the Veseli Area Lions.

A number of area teams have advanced to the 2019 Adapted Soccer State Tournament, which will start Friday, Nov. 22, and conclude the following day. Matches will be played at Stillwater Area High School.
In the CI Division, White Bear Lake (10-0) will play Chaska/Chanhassen/Prior Lake/Shakopee (6-3-1) at 5 p.m. Friday.
Following that game will be Burnsville/Farmington/ Lakeville (7-1-2) versus St. Cloud Area (7-2-1) at 6:30p.m.

The New Prague Times The Elko New Market Chamber of Commerce held its annual dinner and meeting at the Firehouse Grille. There was a little twist this year. Besides holding elections and listing what were some highlights of the year, a murder mystery was included during the Monday, Nov. 18, festivities.

Dodge County Dodge County scored three goals in the third period to defeat New Prague in the season opener for the Trojan girls hockey team.
Both teams scored once in the first two periods before Dodge County knocked in the three goals in the final period.
“I thought the nerves were out during our first period but we eventually settled in and then played a very good second period,” New Prague Coach Taylor Ries said. “We were in the game the whole way but fell off a bit in the third period.”

Red Rauschke, age 73, of New Prague, died peacefully in the loving presence of his family on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at his home.  Red was born on July 28, 1946 in Willmar, Minnesota to Leonard and Lorraine (Wondra) Rauschke.  He graduated from Montgomery High School and entered the US Army in 1969 and served in Vietnam.  He married the love of his life, Karen D.

The DRS Baseball League held its Fall meeting Wednesday, Nov. 6, at the Doublewide in Elko New Market, with all 13 teams represented.
New managers were introduced for three teams. Tanner Graff is the new manager for Shakopee, Brent Goracke for St. Patrick and Mike Prochaska for Webster. Todd Klehn will be an assistant manager for Webster.
