Ina Mae Fischer, age 90, of Kilkenny, died on Friday, September 9, 2022 at Allina Health Faribault Medical Center.
Ina Mae was born on April 29, 1932, in Cleveland, Minnesota to Charles and Etta (McFadden) Flowers. She received her education at Cleveland Public Schools. Ina Mae was united in marriage to Frank Richard Fischer on January 29, 1948, in Cleveland. Together they made their home on the farm outside of Kilkenny where she lived for the past 60 years. Ina and Frank shared 20 years of marriage before Frank passed away on March 6, 1969.

Geraldyne (Gerri) David (Sheehy), age 85 passed away on August 21, 2022 at Central Health Care Center in Le Center, MN.
Gerri grew up with her parents and siblings on a farm near Waterville where she learned to bake, sew, garden and grow to have a strong faith in God. She graduated from Waterville High School in 1956.
Gerri married Jacob John David on June 14, 1961 at the Church of St. Canice in Kilkenny, MN. On February 22, 1963 they welcomed son Dennis John David to their family.

For the past 11 years, my family has rented a cabin at Boyd Lodge near Cross Lake for one week every summer.
The crew of eight includes: my husband, two daughters, parents, brother, sister-inlaw, and myself.
We’ve been in the same cabin for 10 of the years.
Everyone knows which bed they will be in and how/ where to “properly” store our groceries for the week (and we know to make two batches of Chex mix).

The WEM/JWP boys and girls cross country teams competed Friday, Aug. 26 in the Fairmont Early Bird Meet.
The girls team placed sixth overall with a score of 127. Marshall nearly had a perfect score, finishing with a score of 20 to easily win the meet. Fairmont placed second (85), JCC third (92), St. Peter fourth (115), and Mountain Lake Area- Comfrey (127). Fairmont had the top individual runner and Marshall runners placed second through seventh.

A number of new teaching staff and school district employees had a chance to meet Waterville Chamber of Commerce members during the New Teacher’s Luncheon held at El Molino's in Waterville Thursday, Aug. 25.

The 49th Annual Pioneer Power Show held its daily parade at 12:30 p.m. of tractors on Friday, Aug. 26, with a wide assortment of tractors, including steam powered ones. The Pioneer Power Show started August 26 and will be held this Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 27 and 28. The Le Sueur County Pioneer Power Association holds the annual show which has tractors and farm equipment. This year the show also features vintage and antique snowmobiles from the 1950s through the 1980s. There is also music, food, a tractor pull for the large vehicles and a smaller one for kids on Saturday.

Violet Chromy of New Prague has been named the 2022 Le Sueur County Outstanding Senior Citizen.
She will be honored at the Le Sueur County Fair in Le Center on Sunday, August 21 at 1 p.m. in the Pavillion.
Chromy has been a homemaker her entire life. The 85-year-old is a mother of nine children, grandmother of 26, and great-grandmother of 34. Taking care of her children is not the only activity Chromy has been involved with according to James Simon, who nominated her for the award.

I went to the refrigerator to grab the carrots, but I found a stew of stinky old, rotten vegetable goo in the bottom of the crisper drawer.
After emptying the drawer, discarding the bad produce, and washing the good veggies, I opened the under-the-sink cabinet to grab the cleaner to clean the drawer.
I found the cleaner sitting in a puddle of water, so I had to take everything out of the under-the-sink cabinet so I could wipe it dry and look for the leak.

Members of the community are rallying around a local pastor and his family after he received a devastating diagnosis, which required him to step down from his pastoral work.
Pastor Travis Loeslie has served Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morristown for almost five years, having been installed as pastor of the local congregation in October of 2017. He and his wife, Stephanie, have six children (Benjamin, 13, Marta, 11, Miriam, 9, Samuel, 6, Elijah, 3, and Ingrid, 2) and reside in the parish’s parsonage.

With their backs against the wall and needing two wins to advance, the Waterville Indians amateur baseball team did just that Saturday, Aug. 13 in Region 6C Playoff action in Belle Plaine.
The Indians defeated Belle Plaine, 5-4, scoring two runs in the bottom of the eighth. They also avenged a loss to St. Peter, shutting out the Saints, 4-0, in the third place game, the game which advanced the team into the Class C State Tournament.
