The Tri-City United High School’s fishing team had a good season, finishing in the top five in the conference and sending two to the 2026 Minnesota Junior B.A.S.S. High School State Championship Tournament Sept. 12-13 on Leech Lake at Leech Lake, Minn.
    TCU duo Ryan Barta and Michael Gregor, along with their adult boat captain Timm Moravec, headed up north to finish placing 19th out of 80 teams at the state tournament. Their total bag weight was 19.55 pounds, with the first day’s bag weighing 10.84 pounds and the second day’s bag weighing 8.71 pounds.

Titans boys soccer finish half of season 7-0-1

    With two more wins, the Tri-City United (TCU) boys soccer team finishes the first half of their 2026 season with seven wins, no losses, and one tie.
    The Titans moved up to 8th in the Class A State Soccer Poll after wins against Waseca, 4-1, on Tuesday, Sept. 15 and Fairmont, 4-0, Thursday, Sept. 17.

    The Tri-City United (TCU) girls swimming and diving team nearly upset Mankato West in a dual meet Tuesday, Sep. 15 at West.
    The Titans won five events (three individual and two relays) against the Scarlets in an 86-83 win by West.
    “TCU’s relays and backstroke showed strong team chemistry heading into the rest of the season,” head coach Cassie Fisher said.
    Winning individual events were Madelyn Ryan in the 500-yard freestyle (7:31), Isla Stock in the 100-yard backstroke (1:16.31), and Grace Harmeyer in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:35.24).

    Montgomery National Golf Club was extremely busy Thursday, Sept. 10. Not with golfers, but with high school cross country runners.
    Close to 350 varsity runners from more than 25 boys and girls teams ran the 5,000-meter course looking to claim the titles at the Gerry Smith Tri-City United (TCU) Invitational.
    The local school had their share of runners compete. The boys team placed 18th among the 27 total teams with 499 points. Three TCU girls ran in the women’s race which had 21 complete teams compete.

TCU tennis team claims six titles at New Ulm

    The results from the new Ulm girls tennis invitational Saturday, Sept. 12 probably couldn’t have gone any better for the Tri-City United (TCU) squad.
    Of the 24 matches played against New Ulm, Redwood Valley, and River Valley, The Titans won 21 of them. 

Titans start boys soccer season 3-0

    The Tri-City United boys soccer team started its 2026 season by allowing only two goals while posting three straight wins.
    The defending Section Champions defeated Mankato West, 1-0, Wings United (St. James/Windom/Madelia), 10-1, and Worthington, 2-1, in a rematch of the Big South Conference Championship.
    Junior Angel Ruiz Gomez scored the lone goal in the shutout of Mankato West August 29, in the 22nd minute.

    It was a clean sweep for the Tri-City United girls tennis team Tuesday, Sept. 1.
    The Titans improved to 3-3 overall with straight set wins in all seven matches. They only allowed one Eagle player to score more than three points in a set.
    At No. 1 singles junior Ellie Adams was a 7-5, 6-2 winner. Junior Reagan Steffen was a 6-2, 6-0 winner at No. 2 singles. Junior Destynee Wolff was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at No. 3 singles. At No. 4 singles, junior Lexie Berger was a 6-3, 6-0 winner.

    The Tri-City United boys soccer team opened their 2026 season with a 1-0 shutout win over Mankato West Saturday, Aug. 29 in Montgomery.
    No statistics were provided following the match.
    The Titans are rated in the top 15 in Class A in the Minnesota State Soccer Association Pre-Season Poll.

Titans girls drop opening two games

    The Tri-City United girls soccer team played a pair of games before school started and were defeated in both.
    The Titans lost, 4-2, to Norwood/Sibley East Thursday, August 27. Kinsley Mach scored both the goals for TCU. Camila Perez and Alice Grimm each had an assist. Johanna Zasoski saved 18-of-20 shots on goal.
    Two days later Mankato West traveled to Montgomery and defeated the Titans, 8-1. Scoring the lone goal for TCU was Camila Perez.

    The TCU Junior Legion baseball team capped off a thrilling 2026 summer campaign, cementing their standing as one of the premier programs in the region by capturing the Metro Junior Legion League Tier 1A Division Championship and earning a third place finish at the Tier 1A State Tournament. 
    Competing in Tier 1A, a division designated for high schools with grades 10–12 enrollments between 400 and 1,000, TCU put together a dominant, high-octane season built on relentless base running, clutch hitting, and deep pitching.

    Tri-City United Titan’s Head Coach Brian Miller said, “It was a great season for the TCU Titan 10AA Traveling Baseball team who capped off the season with earning a trip to the Minnesota Baseball Tournaments (MBT) State Tournament.”
    Titans ended up ranked second for Region 2, with a 10-4-0 record, falling just behind the Chanhassen 10AA Gold team. 
    The state tournament was held in Savage and Burnsville from July 17-19. TCU played three games at the tournament, sadly they lost all three games but put up a strong fight.

Montgomery Mallards 15, Shakopee Coyotes 5 (Five innings)
    The postseason arrived in high fashion at Memorial Field on Sunday, Aug. 2 as the Montgomery Mallards unleashed a relentless 23-hit attack to claim a commanding 15-5 victory over Shakopee in game one of their best-of-three series. 

Veseli's Kyle Carlberg collected three hits in four at-bats, as Warriors defeated Gaylord, 10-2, Tuesday, Aug. 4, at Walsh Field.

Veseli hurler Nate Picka pitched the complete game allowing four hits while striking out eight Islanders.

The win advances the Warriors to a playoff series against New Prague beginning Sunday, Aug. 9, 2 p.m., at Memorial Park.
