Jean Marie Martin passed away peacefully with her children by her side after a brief illness on Wednesday March 24, 2021. Jean was born on February 14, 1948 in South Minneapolis to Harold and Marlys (Hanson) Walton. She was married to Robert William Henry Martin on August 26, 1972 at Pine City Methodist Church. Jean worked for ISD 196 as a food and nutrition manager for many years.

Donald A. “45” Nickolay, age 68, of Elko New Market, died Monday, March 22, 2021 with his wife at his side after a brief illness at University of Minnesota Hospital.  Don was born on July 27, 1952 in New Prague to Francis J. and Lorraine L. (Shimota) Nickolay.  He attended St. Wenceslaus School, graduated from New Prague High School, and attended Faribault Vocational-Technical School in welding.  He married the love of his life, LuAnn R.

Shirley J. Meyer, age 95, of New Prague, died peacefully, with her family at her side on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at St. Francis Regional Medical Center.  Shirley was born on October 11, 1925 in Wheatland Township, Rice County, MN to Theofil M. and Bessie (Novak) Kajer.  She attended St. Wenceslaus School and graduated from New Prague High School.  She married Donald E. Meyer on November 9, 1946 at the St. Wenceslaus Rectory in New Prague.  Shirley’s faith was always a central part of her life and she was active at St.

Gladys R. Eilers, age 77, of New Prague, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at King’s Way in Belle Plaine.  Gladys was born on December 7, 1943 in New Prague to Leonard and Christine (Wolf) Nytes.  She was born and raised in the Union Hill area, attending Le Sueur County District School and was a 1961 graduate of New Prague High School.  Gladys married Donald W. “Fuzzy” Eilers on April 12, 1980 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Union Hill and the two were pretty inseparable ever since!  She was a member of St. John’s Parish Catholic Aid Association and then St.

Scott Dale Mischke, age 53 of Elko New Market passed away at his home after losing his 4 year fighting battle with prostate cancer on March 13th, 2021. Preceded in death by his loving parents; Duaine and Janice Mischke; uncle, Jim Jenkins and grandparents; Ken and Gloria Jenkins (Worthington, MN). Survived by wife, Debra; children, Nathan Mischke, Linzey (Josh) Stocker, and Miles Mischke; granddaughter, Raelyn; siblings, Cindy (Kevin) Burns, Leeland (Jayne) Mischke, Kevin Mischke, and many nieces and nephews.

Evelyn Trcka, age 102 of Shieldsville passed away peacefully on Thursday March 4, 2021 at Pleasant Manor in Faribault. Visitation will be held Monday, March 22, 2021 from 3 – 7 pm at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Shieldsville and will continue Tuesday morning 9:30 – 11 am. Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 11 am with Fr. Thomas Niehaus officiating. Interment will be held in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Shieldsville.

Therese M. “Terry” McMahon, age 93, of New Prague, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at her home.  Terry was born on May 19, 1927 in Elkton, SD to William J. and Edith C. (Ferrie) Thielen.  She attended Elkton Country School, graduated from Elkton High School, and attended Minneapolis Teletype School.  She met the man of her dreams, Harold K. “Mac” McMahon, when she and he returned to Elkton after being gone for a short time.  Their love affair would result in a marriage of 70 years, beginning with their wedding on June 27, 1950 in Elkton. 

Beverly Theresa Rutt passed away at Mayo Hospital in Arizona on February 27, 22021.
She was born in New Prague, MN to Frank and Mary Rutt on April 5, 1939.  Beverly graduated from Montgomery, MN High School in 1957, attended the School of Business in Minneapolis, MN and moved to Hawaii for three years. Beverly has resided in Scottsdale, AZ since 1968 working for the US Airforce and US Post Office in Arizona until retirement.

Zachary “Zakk” Voehl, of Prior Lake, passed away unexpectedly on March 3, 2021. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 12, 2021 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation (4565 Pleasant Street SE) in Prior Lake.  A Celebration of Life Service is Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior at Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church (3611 North Berens Road NW) in Prior Lake. 

Philip L. Murray, age 74, of Chaska, died suddenly on Friday, March 5, 2021 at 212 Medical Center in Chaska.  Phil was born on March 20, 1946 in New Prague to Paul M. and Eva L. (Peach) Murray.  He grew up on the family farm in Kilkenny, attending country school and Waterville Public School.  He farmed and raised cattle, goats, and other animals.  He met his bride, Darlene G.

Eva M. Loeffler, age 94 of Elko New Market, passed away on February 25, 2021. Eva was born on March 26, 1926 in Eydtkau, East Prussia (now known as Chernyshevskoye, Russia) to Berta Getzke.  She married Oscar Loeffler on May 20, 1953 in Munich, Germany and the couple emigrated to the United States in 1957. 

Rud, Donald L. Resident of the Pines of Richfield and long-term Bloomington resident passed away 2/17/2021 at the age of 88 after a three-year struggle with stage 4 Radon related lung cancer. He was born 12/26/1932 In Red Wing, MN to Louie and Marie Rud and was the eldest of their 6 children. Don was raised in Webster, MN and graduated from Northfield High School in 1950.

Sister Kara (Clareen) Hennes, 73 died peacefully on Wednesday, February 17, 2021, at Saint Scholastica Convent, St. Cloud, Minn. A private Eucharist of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Benedict’s Monastery on Saturday, February 20, 2021, followed by burial in the monastery cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Benson Funeral Home.

Dr. Thomas (Tom) Borak, age 78, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 25th, 2021 at Medical Center Of The Rockies, Loveland, CO. He was born on August 2nd, 1942 in Minneapolis, MN to Mayme and John Borak of New Prague, MN. He is survived by his loving wife Marie-Louise Borak (Meier), daughter Theresa Cordova, son-in-law Francisco Cordova, grandchildren Emiliano and Eloise Cordova, and sister Helen Anawalt.

Joan Frances Glisczinski, age 80 of rural Belle Plaine, died on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, February 19, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, New Prague, MN. Burial will follow at St. John the Evangelist Cemetery, Union Hill, MN. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 18, from 4:00 p.m. ~ 8:00 p.m. at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine, MN. Visitation will continue Friday morning at the funeral home in Belle Plaine from 8:30 a.m. until about 10:15 a.m.

Clarence J.
