Leonard Eischens, 92

Leonard P. Eischens, age 92, of St. Benedict, died peacefully, surrounded by his family on Friday, July 20, 2018 at his home.  Leonard was born on September 1, 1925 in Helena Township to Adam M. and Ruth (Beckius) Eischens.  He was raised in the St. Benedict area, where he attended country school and graduated from New Prague High School.  He entered the U.S. Army, served in WWII, and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.  He married Verna A. Giesen on September 5, 1959 at St.

Lillian J. “Lil” Tate, 83

Lillian J. “Lil” Tate, age 83, of New Prague, died suddenly but peacefully with her daughters at her side on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.  Lil was born on June 1, 1935 in Cedar Lake Township to Joseph A. and Ludmilla A.

Rosemary DeGonda, 89

Rosemary DeGonda, 89, of Bloomington died Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Friendship Village in Bloomington. Mass of Christian burial was held at Pax Christi Catholic Community in Eden Prairie on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 11:00 am with Fr. Bill Murtaugh presiding. Burial was at Fort Snelling, after the luncheon. Visitation was one hour prior to Mass at church.
Rosemary was born in New Prague, the daughter of John A Bednar and Agnes (Bruzek) Bednar. Both parents were of Czech descent. She had an older sister Edyth, all are deceased.

Richard “Dick” Houle, 83

Richard “Dick” Houle passed away unexpectedly on his 83rd birthday, July 3, 2018, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, in Minneapolis, MN. He was a resident of Prior Lake, MN.  

Joyce Marie Kajer, 88

Joyce Marie Kajer, age 88, of New Prague died suddenly on Thursday, July 5, 2018, at Mayo Clinic Health System New Prague.  Joyce was born on March 14, 1930 in Chaska to Frank and Marie (Halloran) Kocks.  She moved to New Prague when her father transferred for his job during her high school years and graduated from New Prague High School.  She remained in New Prague and started working for Dr. Sladek as a dental assistant.  She married William B. Kajer on July 17, 1954 at St.

Regina J. Wagner, 97

Regina J. Wagner, age 97 , of new Prague died peacefully on Saturday, June 30th, 2018 at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center. Regina was  born on June 4, 1921 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Oscar Jernstrom and Mary Marron. She attended St. Rosalia grade school and high school in Pittsburgh, and graduated with a degree in Home Economics from Mount Mercy College in Pittsburgh. She worked on her masters degree at the University of Wisconsin.

Edward J. Hruby, 97

Edward J. Hruby, age 97 of Lonsdale, MN passed into eternal life on June 26, 2018. Edward was born to Frank and Ann (Kuzelka) Hruby on February 27, 1921. 
Edward attended Catholic Schools in Lonsdale and New Prague. He met his lifetime sweetheart Adeline Sevcik. They married on May 4, 1942 in Lonsdale, before Ed had to leave for the service.

Melodé K. Girard, 74

Melodé K. Girard, age 74, of New Prague, died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, June 26, 2018.  Mel was born on July 10, 1943 in Davenport, IA to Arthur V. and Ruth A. (Boyd) Kirby.  She was raised in Marshalltown, IA and the family moved, settling in Colorado, where she met the man who would become her husband.  She and Kenneth E. Girard were married on November 16, 1957 in Denver, Colorado.  For the first years of their life, they traveled extensively for work and finally settled in New Prague in 1972.

Alice M. Jirik, 72

Alice M. Jirik, age 72, of New Prague, died suddenly but peacefully on Monday, June 25, 2018 at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center.  Alice was born on July 29, 1945 in New Prague to Leo M. and Alyce R. (Shimek) Mamer.  She attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic School, graduated from New Prague High School, and graduated as an LPN from St. Joseph School of Nursing in Mankato.  Alice married Donald C. Jirik on November 6, 1965 at St.

Claire A. Hadac, 93

Claire A. Hadac, age 93, of Northfield, formerly of New Prague, died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, June 25, 2018, at Three Links Care Center in Northfield.  Claire was born on October 9, 1924 in New Prague to Frank and Mary C. (Lexa) Hadac, Sr.
