Fire destroys barn in Cedar Lake Township
A fire on a local farm, totally destroyed a barn used for storage and its contents Wednesday evening, Aug. 5.
New Prague No. 4 singles player Iris Trygestad had the top finish for the Trojans at the Brainerd Moose Tournament held Saturday, Sept. 10.
Trygestad placed second in the event which featured teams from Brainerd, Pequot Lakes, East Grand Forks, Coon Rapids, Roseau, Big Lake, and Glencoe-Silver Lake.
The No. 3 doubles team of Maggie Giesen and Abby Pint placed third. Mallory Jirik and Ellie Thomas also played one match at No. 3 doubles.
Michael John Lombard, age 46 of Stacy passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Methodist Hospital in Rochester.
New Prague’s 29th annual Car Cruise had a beautiful evening with a mist of rain clearing up in time for the parade of vintage vehicles making their way east on Main Street.
Crowds also came out to see the collection of classic cars that began at the New Prague High School and made their way through the countryside back into New Prague to line up for people to get a better look.

Heidelberg Community Day had beautiful fall weather on Sunday, Sept. 11, which is why it likely had its largest crowd for the annual celebration. Held in Heidelberg Park the annual celebration in the city six miles southwest of New Prague offered something for everyone. There were inflatable play areas for children, a large assortment of vendors for the whole family and food. There was also a Car Show for car enthusiasts. All proceeds from Heidelberg Community Day go to maintain Heidelberg Park, which is maintained by the Heidelberg Athletic Association.
The Hops for Hope ALS fundraiser in New Prague had beautiful fall weather for its fifth annual happening on Saturday, Sept. 10. Held at Giesenbrau Bier Co. there was music, food, beverages and a silent auction. Those who organize it remember those who died due to the disease ALS and offer support for those who continue to deal with it.
The last two years have provided some challenges, but this Friday, Sept. 16, and Saturday, Sept. 17, New Prague’s 38th annual Dozinky harvest festival and the 29th annual Car Cruise will be back on Main Street with lots of food and fun for families and friends.

Noyes, Corazon Millano, age 74 of Prior Lake, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 6th with her family by her side.
A visitation will take place on Thursday, September 22nd at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, 4565 Pleasant St. SE, Prior Lake from 4-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 23rd at 11 AM at the Church of St. Michael, 16400 Duluth Ave SE, Prior Lake with visitation at church one hour prior. Father Tom Walker will preside. Interment Spring Lake Cemetery.
Roselyn Koenig entered eternal life on September 6, 2022, at Oak Terrace Senior Living, in Jordan, MN. She was just shy of her 96th birthday and a longtime resident of Jordan.
Ina Mae Fischer, age 90, of Kilkenny, died on Friday, September 9, 2022 at Allina Health Faribault Medical Center.
Ina Mae was born on April 29, 1932, in Cleveland, Minnesota to Charles and Etta (McFadden) Flowers. She received her education at Cleveland Public Schools. Ina Mae was united in marriage to Frank Richard Fischer on January 29, 1948, in Cleveland. Together they made their home on the farm outside of Kilkenny where she lived for the past 60 years. Ina and Frank shared 20 years of marriage before Frank passed away on March 6, 1969.

On September 10, 2022, at 12:49 a.m., Scott County Sheriff’s Office 911 Dispatch received a report of a single-vehicle crash that occurred on 240th Street East, just west of Cedar Lake Drive in Cedar Lake Township.
Upon arrival, deputies observed a pickup truck fully engulfed in flames and an adult female near the vehicle with injuries consistent with a motor vehicle crash.

New Prague’s Main Street will be closed beginning on Monday, Sept. 12, for warranty repairs to the street from Highway 21 to Seventh Avenue SE. According to a memorandum from Public Works Director Matt Rynda to the New Prague City Council six concrete panels along Main Street, west of the railroad, cracked in 2021. The damaged concrete panels are also over storm sewers constructed early in the project and is under warranty.
