In a battle of two of the top four teams in the Wright County Conference softball standings, Delano pulled out 14-9 win over New Prague Friday, April 23.
The Tigers trailed 7-6 heading into the fifth inning when they scored eight unearned runs to build a 14-7 lead. New Prague added two runs in the sixth inning and outhit the Tigers (16 to 13), but were handed their first WCC loss in three games. Delano leads the league with a 4-1 record.

Bradley University senior Taylor Ledwein was voted the Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Year after capturing the fifth All-MVC honor of her career as she helped Bradley women’s golf tie for sixth in the final team standings at the 20-2021- MVC Championship April 20.
Ledwein earned her fourth top-10 finish of the year, tying for eighth individually to pace the Brave at 21-over 234 after firing a team-best 82 in the final round during a cold and snowy final day.

These 4 boys got a chance to somewhat makeup for no state floor hockey tournament last year thanks to Hope Fieldhouse in Rosemount March 6 and 7, 2021. They hosted a tournament for all players across the state. Garrett Gagner and Seth Dorner were seniors last year and had played together since 7th grade.
They were part of the team that went undefeated in 8 games back to back to win the championship.
Garret also earned the tournament MVP award. Evan Minar and Trystan Seger attend NPHS and won the 3rd place medal.

The National Wrestling Hall of Fame Minnesota Chapter announced the induction of nine new members to the Class of 2021. One of those honored will be Dr. John Berg, Jr. of New Prague.

Take a Mom Fishing Weekend is the weekend before fishing opener
Fishing seasons open for walleye, bass, trout in lakes, and northern pike on Saturday, May 15, with this year’s date taking the prize for the latest possible opener under Minnesota statute.
“We know there is some confusion about this year’s opener date,” said Jon Hansen, fisheries program consultant for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

Woodrow Glazer, class of 2019 New Prague High School, continues his shotgun team career at Hillsdale College, MI. Hillsdale shotgun team brought home its Seventh Division III national championship title from the Association of College Unions International (ACUI) Collegiate Clay Target Championships in San Antonio, TX, on March 25-27. The team won the coveted Highest Overall (HOA) Division III Team award, breaking the most targets across all disciplines throughout the competition.

On Saturday, March 6, the Trojan Dance Team competed for the last time this season at the 1AAA Section Championships held at Bloomington Kennedy High School. The 1AAA Section is one of the toughest in the State made up of the following schools: Apple Valley, Burnsville, Eastview, Farmington, Lakeville North, Lakeville South, New Prague, Northfield, Owatonna, Prior Lake, Rochester Century, Rochester John Marshall, Rochester Mayo, and Rosemount.

Eleven New Prague senior skaters ended their 2020-21 season Thursday, March 18 in a 9-1 loss to Eden Prairie.
Eden Prairie (16-1-2 overall), the No. 3 rated Class AA team, scored four goals in the first, two in the second,. and three in the third in this Section 2AA quarterfinal.
New Prague senior Joey Vacek scored his second goal of the season in the second period on assists from John Schmidt, his third, and Jack Wilmes, his fifth.
Eden Prairie held a 50- 15 shots on goal advantage against the Trojans, who finish their season with a 3-16 overall record.

For the first time since 2014 the New Prague gymnastics team will be making a trip to the State Tournament.
The Trojans scored a season- high 142.875 to claim the Section 2AA Championship Thursday, March 18 at Bloomington Jefferson High School.
Lakeville North, the defending Class AA State Champions, placed second (141.750) and Lakeville South placed third (140.325) in the eight-team Sectional.
The Trojans advanced to State in 2014 as a Class A team. In 2016 they were moved up to Class AA. The last time they advanced as a Class AA school was in 1985.

Nick Novak has been named to the 2021 MWCA All-State Academic Wrestling Team. This team consists of some of the state’s best wrestlers who are also great students. This group of student-athletes has won 23 state titles, over 4,400 matches, and an astounding 82% winning percentage. Each year, the MWCA seeks the state’s top wrestlers, who are also great students. The 28 wrestlers selected this year were from a pool of 145 wrestlers nominated across the state by members of the Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Association.

The New Prague girls basketball team picked up their first win of the season Tuesday, March 2.
The Trojans ended a 13-game losing streak by defeating Mound Westonka, 70-56.
The win is flip-flop of their game on Feb. 5 when M-W defeated the Trojans, 70-58.
Hannah Wedeking continues to led the offense, scoring 32 points and had 11 rebounds and six assists. Hatlevig scored 13 points and Avery Hennen added 10 points.
