Cruising in the rain
Despite the rain, the Car Cruise of classic cars happened Friday evening, Sept. 18, with people lining the route down New Prague’s Main Street.
The New Prague football team gave the pyrotechnics crew a workout last Friday night at Trojan Stadium, as the fireworks team was responsible for setting off a barrage of fireworks after every score. The Trojans crushed Rochester John Marshall 55-6 before a packed stadium in this year’s Homecoming game.
The game was back and forth early, as a scoreless first quarter went by quickly. The Trojans ended a promising 12-play drive inches short on fourth down at the Rockets’ 15 yard line, and the Rockets punted after controlling the ball for several minutes of their own.
The General Election is on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2022. New Prague city residents will vote in the gym at the Fitness & Aquatic Center at 410 Central Ave. N. The polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.

The annual St. Wenceslaus Catholic School Marathon fundraising event was a smashing success on Saturday, Oct. 1. The school’s goal was to raise $55,000, and the end result was a whopping $65,000. The school uses these funds to fulfill its budget expenses throughout the academic year.
The New Prague Fire Department’s volunteer firefighters gave back to the community it serves with an open house on Sunday, Oct. 2. People attending could enjoy a pancake breakfast with sausages, pastries and beverages. Children and youngsters could try on firefighter’s gear or try their hand at aiming of the fire hoses. The warm fall day was a perfect one for the open house. People could also watch the North Memorial Air Ambulance land and tour the helicopter.
Kevin David Adamek, age 68, of Jordan, MN, passed peacefully on October 3, 2022. A time of gathering will be on Thursday, October 6, 4-7 pm, at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation-Jordan Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, October 7, 11 am, with a time of gathering, 9:30-10:45 am, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Jordan. Interment at St. John Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are preferred.
We lost a good one 9-23-2022 during the night from medical complications. Kenneth Bruzelius was born (1935) during a blizzard in a log cabin outside of Northhome, Minnesota to Daniel and Lavina Bruzelius. He was the youngest of four, sister Florence (Breeze) and two brothers, Daniel and Robert.
Heaven handed out another pair of Angel Wings. Jeffrey Kyle Holland of New Prague passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at the age of 60 at home with his loving wife by his side. Jeff was born on February 24, 1962 to Conrad and Davonna (Rozell) Holland in Aberdeen, SD. He lived most of his childhood years in Redfield, SD and graduated from Redfield High School. Jeff worked for Spring Green Lawn Care for many years. He enjoyed making his lawn look impeccable. He also worked at Mahowald Motors car dealership as a Service Manager.
Suzanne Rae (Hertaus) Einan born June 22nd, 1975 in New Prague, Minnesota passed away September 25th, 2022 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Evelyn I. “Evie” Goldsmith, age 85, of New Prague, formerly of Mora, died on Saturday, September 24th at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee. She was born November 6, 1936 in Gilman, Minnesota to Benjamin Krawiecki and Elizabeth Meyer. She attended Mora Public Schools and the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul before finishing her education degree at St. Cloud State College. Evie was united in marriage to Thomas E. Goldsmith on November 27, 1958 in Mora. She was an elementary school teacher for 30 years, most of that in Milaca School District.
Gerald Joseph Ziskovsky, age 56 of Prior Lake, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2022 while surrounded by his family.
A visitation will be held from 4-7PM on Friday, September 30, 2022 at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, 4565 Pleasant St. SE, Prior Lake. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 10AM with a visitation beginning at 9AM all at St. Michael Catholic Church, 16400 Duluth Ave SE, Prior Lake. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be distributed by Gerald's family in his memory
Jerry Roach, age 87, of Prior Lake, MN, entered eternal life on September 24, 2022.

When his little boy passed away due to a brain tumor in 2013, Kraig Harms entrusted many of his son Austin’s favorite shirts and blankets to volunteers who offered to use the items to make a keepsake quilt for him.
That was nine years ago. “When he kept after them, they finally gave him something that definitely wasn’t a quilt and was very disappointing,” explained Austin’s grandma, Shirley Schulz of New Prague. “They were obviously not quilters.”
It was a solid week for the Class AAA 12th ranked New Prague volleyball team.
The week opened with a pair of wins against Mankato West and Bloomington Jefferson.
It ended with a split of four matches in the 16-team Farmington Tournament.
The Trojans picked up a 25- 20, 25-20 win over Mounds View. They were then edged by Class AAAA No. 9 rated Rosemount, 25-22, 25-10. In their third match, New Prague downed Elk River 25-22, 20- 25, 16-14. The final match saw Class AAA No. 7 rated Grand Rapids pull out a 25-21, 22- 25, 18-16 victory.
