Betty Marie Braun, 88

Betty Marie Braun, 88, died on Monday, June 17, 2019, at Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital in New Prague. Visitation will be held Friday, June 21, 2019, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday June 22, 2019, at St. John Lutheran Church in Montgomery with visitation one hour prior at the church. Interment will be at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Montgomery.

Russell Harry Dietz, 72

Russell Harry Dietz, 72, of Montgomery, passed away after a long battle with cancer on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, surrounded by family at Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital in Mankato. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 20 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery with a funeral service following. Interment will be at a later date.
Russell was born on September 30, 1946, to Harry and Leota (Busta) Dietz. He graduated from Montgomery High School. He was in the US Army Reserves and Montgomery Police Reserves.

Michael “Carp” Sery, 67

Michael “Carp” Sery, age 67, of Montgomery, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, at his home in Montgomery. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 21 from 9 a.m. to noon at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery with funeral mass following. Private interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to establish a scholarship fund in Michael’s name.

Elroy Milton Picha, 90

Elroy Milton Picha, 90, of Montgomery, passed away Monday, June 3, 2019, at Mayo Clinic Health System New Prague Hospital. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 6 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery with Mass of Christian Burial at 2:30 p.m. with Father Victor Valencia officiating. Burial will be at Trebon Cemetery.

Merlyn Robert Duenow, 91

Merlyn Robert Duenow, 91, of Montgomery died on Sunday, June 2, 2019, at Traditions in Montgomery. Services are pending in St. Ansgar, Iowa.
Merlyn was born on February 23, 1928, in Worth County, IA to Carl August and Edna Susan (Koster) Duenow. He graduated in St. Ansgar, IA.

Leonard J. Pexa, 80

Leonard J. Pexa, age 80, of New Prague died peacefully, with family by his side on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Reflections, Three Links Care Center, Northfield, MN.
Leonard was born October 5, 1938 in Helena Township, Scott County, MN to Wencel “Jim” Pexa and Bessie (Kadrlik) Pexa. He was raised in the St. Patrick area and attended District 47 Elementary School, St. Wenceslaus School, and graduated in 1956 from New Prague High School.

Dorothy (Dietz) Denzer, 77

Dorothy (Dietz) Denzer, 77, of Montgomery passed away peacefully at home Monday May 20, 2019, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.  Celebration of Life will be held Saturday May 25, 2019 ,at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, 105 Spruce Street NW, with Pastor Jason Pollington officiating. 
Visitation will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s prior to the service. Interment will be held at St. John’s Cemetery in Montgomery.

Francis (Fran) Paul Kral, 80

Francis (Fran) Paul Kral was born on April 5, 1939, in Minneapolis, MN to Frank and Alvina Kral. He grew up in Montgomery, MN and attended school there. After high school he joined the Army Reserves and farmed for a time before he started to work for Green Giant. In 1973 he was transferred to Denton, TX, where he spent the rest of his life.

Nancy Vollmar 83

Nancy Vollmar, 83, of Montgomery passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at The Lodges in Elko. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 13 from 9 to 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Montgomery with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jason Pollington officiating. Interment will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Montgomery.

Helen E. Meger, 80

Helen E. Meger, age 80, of rural Le Center, Minnesota passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on May 5, 2019 at the Central Health Care in Le Center, Minnesota.
Helen was born on June 9, 1938 in Spooner, Wisconsin.  She worked at Indianhead Café in Spooner and after graduating from Spooner High School in 1961, she moved to Wausau, Wisconsin. Four years later she moved to Minnesota.
After moving to the New Prague, Le Center area, she worked at Munsingwear for 22 years.
