The family of Michael Joseph LaPierre, age 67, of New Prague are deeply saddened to report that Mike passed away on March 30, 2018. Preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Alice LaPierre; brothers Louis and Philip; nephews Jean Louis and Bradley, and sister-in-law Edna. Survived by: sister-in-law Georgia LaPierre, brother David, sisters Carol Thomas, Jeanne Miller, Anne (Steve) Schroeder, brothers Ed and Peter (Roxanne), sisters Mary (Paul) Zelmer, Barb (Kevin) Baasch, Cathy and Monica Dugie, brothers Chuck (Jackie) and Larry plus many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Eugene “Gene” Joseph Pavek, age 84 of Eagan, MN, died peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018 at his home in Port Charlotte, FL.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 10 at the Church of St. Patrick’s in Jordan, MN with a lunch planned for afterward.  Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church.  Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 10.

Delores J. Hoffman, age 95 of Belle Plaine formerly of New Prague, died Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the Belle Plaine Lutheran Home.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 6 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague.  Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 5 at the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague and will continue Friday morning from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at the funeral home.  Interment will be in St. Benedict Cemetery in Helena Twp., Scott Co.

David A. Wick, age 60 of New Prague, died suddenly at his home on Thursday, March 29, 2018.  Memorial services will be on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, 12:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in New Prague, MN.  Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Pastor Alicia Hilding will officiate the services.  Following the services at church, the family will host a time of fellowship and lunch in the church social hall.  

Gary L. Long, age 64, of New Prague, died at his home on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 after a recent diagnosis of terminal lung cancer.  Gary was born on December 24, 1953, in Rice County, Faribault, Minnesota, to Gerald H. and Marion (Gatzke) Long.  He was raised in Milaca, Minnesota, where he attended high school and entered the U.S. Army following his junior year.  He served his country from 1972 to 1974.  He completed his GED in Germany and continued his education at various trade schools for welding, mechanical, and diesel engine.

Marie Ludmilla Kajer, 92, left this life on Christmas morning, December 25, 2017. Her daughters, Kim (Kajer) Bergstedt and Jacinta (Cindy) Timmons Carlson were at her side. In addition to her daughter, Kim, she is survived by Kim's husband, David A. Bergstedt, and their children, Brittany Marie, Erik Donald and Elisabeth Eve. In addition to her daughter Cindy, she is survived by Cindy's husband, Harold W. Carlson, and Harry's daughters Karin Carlson Spradlin and her children Emmet and Laura; Sarah Lynn Carlson; and Maria Lach Carlson and her children Lucia, Ellen and Flynn.

Irene A. Unger, age 85, of New Prague, died peacefully, surrounded by her family on Sunday, December 17, 2017, at her home.
