The New Prague Trojan boys cross country team had a strong showing at the Section 2AA meet Thursday, Oct. 24, at Gale Woods Farm Park in Minnetrista.
The Trojans finished fifth of 17 teams and junior Adam Brandt just missed a state berth. Brandt and Mikele Walu of Worthington finished in a virtual tie for the final spot, in 16 minutes, 54.6 seconds, but video replay showed the Worthington runner edged him out for the 13th place. Jacob Malecha finished just four seconds behind them, in 16th place.

The No. 3 seed New Prague Trojans travelled to Minnetonka Tuesday, Oct. 29, to face the No. 2 seed Skippers in the Section 2AAA volleyball semifinals. After a rough first set, the Trojans played two tight games against the Skippers, but lost in three sets, 25-14, 25-23, 25-21. The Trojans end their season with a 22-8 record. No. 8 seed Chaska defeated No. 3 Eden Prairie in five sets in the other semifinal game. Chaska and Minnetonka will play at 5 p.m. Saturday at Prior Lake High School for the section championship.

The New Prague Trojan volleyball team, seeded No. 3, defeated No. 6 seed Waconia in three sets to advance to the semifinals in the Section 2AAA volleyball tournament Friday, Oct. 25. Scores were 25-20, 25-16, 25-14.
New Prague's Tori Moe reached a milestone in the match. The junior setter registered her 1,000th career assist.
In other section quarterfinal matches, No. 8 seed Chaska upset No. 1 seed Shakopee, No. 2 Minnetonka defeated No. 7 Chanhassen and No. 4 Eden Prairie defeated No. 5 Hutchinson. All three of those matches went four sets.

"If a team is going to beat you, you need to make them beat you at your best."
That is a message Matt Anderson has told his New Prague High School girls soccer team many times during the season, and on Tuesday, Oct. 15, in the Section 1AA championship game, that’s just what happened as the Lakeville South Cougars defeated the Trojans 4-0.

The New Prague Trojan girls cross country team traveled to Baker National Golf Course in Medina for the Wright County Conference East Championships Tuesday, Oct. 15.

The New Prague Mountain Bike Team raced in Detroit Mountain Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 5-6.
It rained all day Saturday for the middle school races and left a muddy mess for Sunday’s high school races, but that didn’t stop the New Prague racers from shining.
Middle Schooler Aidan Rosemeier took third place. His middle school teammates didn’t let him down with some strong finishes. Chasing each other were sixth grade riders Joe Frensko in sixth and Vlad Lexa in seventh right behind him. Seventh grader Jacob Clough finished eighth.

The New Prague Trojans did not have an answer for the running game of Waconia in their Section 2AAAAA playoff game Tuesday, Oct. 22. The Wildcats gained 370 yards on the ground and more than a 2-to-1 advantage in time of possession as they ran over the Trojans 35-14 in New Prague. New Prague scored its first touchdown in the second quarter on a 9-yard pass play from Parker Johnson to Jay Skogerboe to tie the game at 7-7. But Waconia drove downfield, completing both of its passes on the game on the next drive to score with 34 seconds remaining in the half to go up 14-7.

The New Prague Trojan girls swim and dive team hosted Mound Westonka and traveled to Orono over the past two weeks, losing both Wright County Conference duals. The Trojans were scheduled to host St. Peter in their final dual of the season on Tuesday, Oct. 15, after this edition of The New Prague Times went to press.
New Prague will host the WCC JV meet on Monday, Oct. 21, and will travel to Hutchinson Saturday, Oct. 26, for the WCC Championships.

The New Prague Trojan boys and girls cross country teams each had strong showings at the Jordan Invitational Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Ridges at Sand Creek Golf Course. The boys placed first and girls second.
Boys meet The Trojan boys scored 69 points, with second place Jordan at 75. The rest of the field included Math and Science Academy (129), Delano (131), Kasson-Mantorville/ Triton (136), Hutchinson (141), Sibley East (148), Norwood Young America (171), Holy Angels (176), Le Sueur-Henderson (259) and Cannon Falls (297).

The New Prague Trojans received the No. 3 seed for the Section 2AAA volleyball playoffs, which were are scheduled to begin Wednesday, Oct. 23.
Shakopee, Minnetonka, New Prague and Eden Prairie earned the top four seeds in the 12-team section and all receive first-round byes. They will host second-round matches on Friday, Oct. 25.

The New Prague Trojans defeated Orono in a Wright County Conference volleyball match Monday, Oct. 7, then won four of five matches to place second at the Eastview Invitational Tournament, held Friday and Saturday, Oct. 11 and 12.

Jake Deutsch grabbed a 7-yard touchdown pass from Parker Johnson early in the fourth quarter to put New Prague up 15-8, then Mitch Callahan sealed things, returning an interception for a touchdown with under three minutes left to give New Prague a 21-8 win over Northfield Wednesday, Oct. 16, in the regular season finale.
Will Busch scored the Trojans’ other touchdown, on a 9-yard run late in the first half. The birthday boy also kicked an extra point and ran in a two-point conversion.

The New Prague Trojan girls soccer team saw its Cinderella run fall one game short of the big dance as they lost to Lakeville South 4-0 Tuesday, Oct. 15, in the Section 1AA championship game.
South led 1-0 at the half, but the Trojan defense denied them a number of times. South made it 2-0 midway through the second half and the Trojans allowed two more goals in the final 10 minutes.

Mitch Callahan scored three touchdowns to lead the New Prague Trojans to a 32-6 win over Albert Lea in a Big Southeast District football game played on a snow, windy evening Friday, Oct. 11, at Trojan Stadium.
New Prague scored on the opening drive of the game, on a short run by Callahan. Albert Lea tied the score at 6-6 early in the second quarter, but the Trojans answered on another run by Callahand, this time form seven yards, to take a 12-6 lead.

One hundred minutes of play resulted in a scoreless tie, and the New Prague Trojans and Farmington Tigers decided their Section 1AA girls soccer semifinal on a penalty kick shootout.
The Trojans had five players take kicks, and four of them, Payton Morris Keelie Buesgens, Lana Krautkremer and Evie Wegner, converted while only three Farmington players were able to find the net. Wegner was the 10th and final shooter, with the two teams tied at 3-3 and beat the Tiger goalie for the win.

The New Prague Trojan girls soccer team, seeded No. 6 in the Section 1AA tournament, upset No. 3 seed Rochester Century 1-0 in the quarterfinals Tuesday, Oct. 8.
Sophomore Payton Morris scored the Trojans' goal in the 48th minute, and New Prague held off the Panthers for the rest of the contest.
