Between Monday, April 26, to Thursday, April 29, 300 grab-n-go breakfasts are being presented to the assorted support staff at each of the school buildings to acknowledge the work of bus drivers to custodians to health services and others have done over the last year.

Placidus Henry “PH” Wick, entered eternal life on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at Ridgeview Medical Center, in Waconia, MN.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 30, 2021 at 11:00 am, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 313 Second Street East, Jordan. Guests may arrive after 10:30 am.  Father Neil Bakker will preside. The Jordan Vets Honor Guard will provide military honors. PH will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Memorials are preferred and will be distributed in his memory, by the family.

Albert P. Zweber, age 91, of rural Lakeville, died peacefully at his home with his family at his side on Saturday, April 24, 2021.

New Prague High School students prepare for the Grand March at Trojan Stadium on Saturday, April 24. The Grand March was broken into two groups this year with the first group held between 3-4 p.m. with about 50 couples signed up for it. The second group was held between 4:30-5:30 p.m. with 80 couples signed up. Families, in limited numbers, watched from the bleachers as each couple walked along the football field and paused at the 50-yard line for photos. Prom continues with a formal dinner at the Park Ballroom with prizes and entertainment to top off the evening.

Elizabeth A. “Betty” Rynda, age 90, of New Prague, died peacefully at home with her family present on Thursday, April 22, 2021.  Betty was born on October 15, 1930 in Lonsdale to Myles and Elizabeth (Herda) Jasan. 
She attended elementary school in Lonsdale, graduated from Bethlehem Academy in Faribault, and attained her R.N. degree from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth. 
She married Ralph A. Rynda on November 17, 1953 in Lonsdale and the couple made their home in New Prague where they raised their 3 daughters.

The National Wrestling Hall of Fame Minnesota Chapter announced the induction of nine new members to the Class of 2021. One of those honored will be Dr. John Berg, Jr. of New Prague.

These 4 boys got a chance to somewhat makeup for no state floor hockey tournament last year thanks to Hope Fieldhouse in Rosemount March 6 and 7, 2021. They hosted a tournament for all players across the state. Garrett Gagner and Seth Dorner were seniors last year and had played together since 7th grade.
They were part of the team that went undefeated in 8 games back to back to win the championship.
Garret also earned the tournament MVP award. Evan Minar and Trystan Seger attend NPHS and won the 3rd place medal.

Mayme Lucille (Dejcmar) Jindra, age 105 years 10 months and 6 days, passed away peacefully at her home in Montgomery on October 19, 2020.  Visitation will be held on Friday, May 7 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Montgomery.  The Funeral Service in celebration of her life will also be held at the Church starting at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jason Pollington officiating.

Dolores Gertrude (Eischens) Wagner passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 18th, 2021. She was born October 8th, 1925, in New Prague, the 9th of 12 children of John and Mary Eischens. She grew up on the family farm, where she recalled milking cows in the morning before attending a country grade school where her teacher was also her sister. Following high school graduation she completed her education at Saint Catherine's School of Nursing in Saint Paul, becoming a registered nurse. She went on to work in the Pediatrics Department of Saint Mary's Hospital, Minneapolis.
